Fabric Weaving with CharKat

Make magic patterns appear from strips of fabric. This is a fun technique, and the resulting *new* fabric creation can be made into many things! The book (included in class fee) has all the basic weave patterns and 12 projects included. You also get a custom tool set of weaving needles and bias strip aids that I have custom made for the class. In class we will focus on set up and process to make this work, but you are free to try any of the weaves, from the basics on up.
No need to precut your strips, I’ll bring my Accuquilt to class to make that a breeze.

Materials List:
YOU DO NOT NEED A SEWING MACHINE FOR THIS CLASS
Fabrics – there are 2 options. Width of Fabric is preferable to FQs, but FQ’s will work in smaller pieces.
For the Tumbling Blocks (shown in the picture) you will need 3 colors ½ yard of each 2 are solid/same fabric for backgrounds (like the black and gray) 1 contrasting color (like the reds…I think I used 3 or 4 different prints)
For the Stars (will be doing them as the demo)
5/8 yard of background
Solid stars – 1 yard
Variable stars – 2, 3, or 6 colors that equal one yard.
Weaving Board (Here are a couple of options)
Ideal is a June Taylor Square N Block Board (You can pin and iron directly on it, it already has some guide likes, and it makes your project a bit more portable.) I know there are others on the market but the larger size of this makes it useful, A piece of Foam Core Board or a Wool Mat at least 18x24
Pins (You will need a lot of them), ½ yard of Pelon 122 Fusible Interfacing, Purple Thang (Optional), 1” wide Painters Tape (I will bring a roll too), Acrylic Rulers, 24” with Angle Markings for 30/60/45 degrees, Drafting Triangle with 30/60/90 degree angles (Optional), Fabric scissors, Rotary Cutter, Heat Erasable Pen (like a Frixion), If you have a small iron, bring it…we will be pressing strips into bias.
Optional but nice to have – Heat Resistant Thimbles (I use steam to press, and keep burning my fingers until I remembered I had these.)
