Rope Bowl/Trivet

Here's a fun break from your regular sewing. Learn to make rope trivets and bowls. Using cotton cord, thread and some fabric learn the basics of this popular craft. You will make a trivet or coaster and a bowl during this class.

Sewing Machine that has zigzag stitch and appropriate foot
Extension Table for your machine (helpful when sewing large pieces)
Scissors, pins, ruler
Assorted fabrics cut in 3/4"-1" wide strips (it is highlu recommended that you starch your fabric prior to cutting this cuts down on fraying)
100 Feet of 3/16 cotton rope (soft rope will produce a softer piece) 
Cotton thread, either 40 or 50 weight (it is recommended to start with colored or variegated thread as this makes it easier to see your stitching)
Have 3-4 bobbins pre made from the top thread
Jeans needle size 14 or 16

Skill Details: All skill levels welcome. Must have working knowledge of your sewing machine.
