Beginning Quilting With Jennifer
You will need: Easy Bake with a Layer Cake pattern
1 layer cake of 42- 10” squares of coordinating fabrics
3 ¾ yd backing fabric
½ yd binding fabric
Batting at least 59”x68”
I added two borders to my quilt. You may do that as well. We will discuss that in class. The pattern calls for the squares and a binding only.
Tools/Notions needed: Sewing machine. You won’t need anything fancy. All you need is a straight stitch sewing machine.
A quarter inch foot is very helpful. Please bring the manual to your machine especially if you are new to sewing.
Rulers: 6”x12” I absolutely love Quilter’s Select rulers as they don’t slip as easily as other rulers.
Rotary Cutter: 45mm blade. There are several to chose from. We will go over some of these in class.
Cutting Mat: It is tempting to go “cheap” on a cutting mat and by all means, if you are working within a budget, that is understandable. Do know, that a good quality matt will go a long way and work better for you in the long run.
Seam Ripper
Cotton thread: I typically use beige or gray for most fabrics. White or black for white or dark fabrics.
Pins with heads that can easily be picked up.
I can’t wait to show you how to make this cute quilt. It is fun and makes up easily. See you in class.
I have a group on facebook for all of my students. It’s called Embroidery/Quilting Class with Jennifer. Please join it and share your class projects.
