Hello! We are going to have a jolly great time for two days by making the Father Christmas hanger by Sweet Pea.
Please visit Between Stitches website class calendar and click on the class. There you will find our affiliate link for Sweat Pea and this Father Christmas design. You will need to purchase the download from Sweet Pea. Make sure you download the design on a flash drive and that it is working on your sewing machine before coming to class. Also, don’t forget to print out the directions and bring them to class with you. Pages 2-5 of the directions tells you of all the materials you will need. Pay close attention to the three different sizes (5x5, 6x10, 7x12). The sample I made for the store is the 7x12 design. Go over that and buy accordingly. There is not a fabric kit for this class as everyone has different styles. Look on swpea.com to see all the different styles others have made. The options are endless. Some made this banner with fall colors and other untraditional colors and fabrics.
Make sure you come to class with plenty of: Light Weight Mesh Cut-Away stabilizer.
Bag stiffener (I did not use this. They suggest it as optional for the boots. I would definitely use it if you are making the shoes without a background. It is a thin foam type of stiffener used in making bags and purses)
Batting Clear Vinyl (Sweet Pea calls it PVC) Wash Away Topper if using velvet, leather, fur, or any fabrics that embroidery thread would burrow in Fusible woven interfacing for all cotton and velvet fabrics
I purchased about ¼ yard of all fabrics and had plenty left over to stash of all except for the cloak. I barely squeaked by. Of course, you will need more for the back. Remember, I made the largest size. Please refer to pages 2-5 fabric amounts for the size you are making. Or course, don’t forget to bring thread.
SWEET PEA FATHER CHRISTMAS HANGER SUPPLY LIST This banner takes many hours to complete. I would love it if we all brought a snack to share with the class. Please know that it is not mandatory. I thought since we will be trying to accomplish as much as possible in these two days, who wants to take time away to drive somewhere to pick up lunch? If you feel called to bring a snack, please do so.
I have a group on facebook for all of my students. It’s called Embroidery/Quilting Class with Jennifer. Please join it and share your class projects.
