October 14 Fabric Manipulation Technique
Would you like to learn new textile art techniques, but not in a large project format? In each monthly class you will create a 9” x 11” sample page exploring a specific technique. Examples include: Weaving; Burning; Couching; special fibers such as Tyvek and Lutradur; Folding and Tucking; Wrinkling; Sashiko; Ricing; Bubbling; Devore; Stamping; Discharge Dying; Crazy Quilting; Beading; Rusting; Fabric Painting; Thread Painting; and more. You will also learn about interfacings and stabilizers, and will learn new edge finishing techniques. These pages may be collated into a sample Art Journal book for your future reference or can be framed, mounted or displayed in other ways. The October class will explore manipulating fabric to change the texture and look of your fabrics using your own low-tech techniques. Use of some additional products such as texture Magic and You will be given instructions on how to prepare your fabric before the class. Learn how to stabilize your fabric and embellish your pages as you wish using your own embellishment items. Rhinestones and some beads will also be accessible to you via your instructor. This is a stand-alone class as a part of a monthly series. Come and go as you wish and have dates available.

In the November class, we will be using a couching-foot and beading-foot to attach a variety of decorative yarns, rat-tail, beads, ribbons and other products you might have or select from the instructors stash. Your design will be enhanced by decorative machine stitches and some fun hand embroidery. This is a stand-alone class as a part of a monthly series. Come and go as you wish and have dates available.
