Textile collage uses bits of fabric as you would use dabs of paint. Using Susan Carlson's glue tacking and top-down technique, non-traditional textiles such as lame', netting, tulle, organza, polyester, ribbon, and yarn will join your cotton stash and be incorporated to create your own artful image. No kits here, and no sewing until the very end when you quilt your image down!
The spiral is used to teach the basic layering technique and color theory. The class will include instruction in fabric selection based on pattern, color, value, and hue; embellishing, shadowing, and highlighting; free motion 'shadow' quilting; binding; and display options. This will begin a series of ongoing classes moving into animals, people, and other design concepts in the fall.
This class is a pre-requisite for other collage classes.
There is a $15.00 materials fee paid to the instructor.
Supplies purchased in-store for this class receive 20% off.
